Terms of Service

Last updated: July 25, 2026

Summary

  • These Terms govern your use of LifeVault Secure, including paid plans, trials, and account access.
  • You are responsible for account security, device security, and safeguarding your credentials and recovery methods.
  • Subscriptions renew automatically until canceled, and pricing, billing timing, and refund eligibility are explained below.
  • You may not misuse the service, interfere with security controls, or store unlawful content.
  • These Terms include important disclaimers, liability limits, and dispute rules.

1. Acceptance of Terms

By accessing or using LifeVault Secure or any related website, application, browser extension, API, or service we make available, you agree to these Terms of Service and our Privacy Policy.

If you do not agree to these Terms, you may not access or use the service.

2. Eligibility

You must be at least 18 years old, or the age of majority in your jurisdiction if that age is higher, to create a LifeVault Secure account. You must be legally capable of entering into a binding agreement and must comply with all laws applicable to your use of the service.

If you use the service on behalf of an organization, you represent that you have authority to bind that organization to these Terms.

Invited members of a Family Legacy plan must be at least 16 years old. The account owner is responsible for confirming that everyone they invite meets this requirement. LifeVault Secure is not intended for, and may not be used by, anyone under 16 in any capacity.

3. Accounts and Security

You are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of your login credentials, passkeys, devices, backup codes, and any other authentication method tied to your account.

LifeVault Secure is designed for secure storage and controlled sharing, but you remain responsible for the people you invite, the access you configure, and the accuracy of the information you store.

  • Use accurate and current registration and billing information.
  • Notify us promptly if you believe your account has been compromised.
  • Maintain control of your recovery methods and encryption-related credentials.
  • Understand that if you lose access to credentials or keys, we may be unable to recover certain protected data for you.

4. Service Description

LifeVault Secure provides encrypted digital-vault features for storing passwords, documents, notes, contacts, and related digital estate information, along with sharing, policy, notification, and emergency-access workflows.

We may modify, improve, suspend, or discontinue parts of the service from time to time. Some features may depend on third-party infrastructure, integrations, devices, operating systems, browsers, or app stores.

5. Plans, Billing, Trials, and Renewals

Some parts of the service are offered on a paid subscription basis. Pricing, plan limits, and included features are described in the product at the time of purchase and may be updated prospectively.

If you start a free trial or paid subscription, you authorize us and our payment processors to charge the applicable fees, taxes, and recurring subscription amounts using your selected payment method until you cancel.

  • Unless otherwise disclosed at checkout, paid subscriptions renew automatically at the end of each billing period.
  • You can cancel renewal through your account settings or other method we make available before the next renewal date to avoid future charges.
  • Except where required by law or expressly stated at checkout, fees are non-refundable and partial billing periods are not prorated.
  • We may change prices or plan terms with advance notice, and those changes will apply no earlier than your next renewal or purchase.

6. Acceptable Use

You may not misuse the service or use it in a way that harms LifeVault Secure, other users, or third parties. Without limitation, you may not:

  • Use the service for unlawful, fraudulent, harassing, abusive, or infringing activity.
  • Attempt to bypass authentication, access controls, rate limits, encryption boundaries, or monitoring safeguards.
  • Reverse engineer, probe, scan, or interfere with the service except as permitted by mandatory law.
  • Upload malware, malicious code, stolen credentials, or content you do not have rights to store or share.
  • Use the service to spam, scrape, overload, or disrupt systems, networks, or other users.
  • Use emergency-access, family-sharing, or invitation features in a deceptive, unauthorized, or unlawful way.

7. Your Content and Rights

You retain ownership of the content you submit, upload, or store in LifeVault Secure. These Terms do not transfer ownership of your content to us.

You grant us only the limited rights reasonably necessary to host, secure, process, back up, transmit, display to authorized users, and otherwise operate the service on your behalf. You represent that you have all rights needed to upload and share your content through the service.

8. Availability and Support

We aim to operate the service reliably, but we do not guarantee uninterrupted availability, error-free operation, or that every issue will be fixed on any specific timeline.

Maintenance, security events, provider outages, software defects, internet failures, or device-level issues may affect access to the service.

9. Suspension and Termination

You may stop using the service or cancel your account at any time. We may suspend or terminate access if we reasonably believe you violated these Terms, created risk for other users, exposed us to liability, or used the service in a way that threatens security or operations.

Termination does not relieve you of amounts already owed. Provisions that by their nature should survive termination, including ownership, disclaimers, liability limits, payment obligations, and dispute provisions, will survive.

10. Disclaimers

THE SERVICE IS PROVIDED "AS IS" AND "AS AVAILABLE" TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW. WE DISCLAIM ALL IMPLIED WARRANTIES, INCLUDING IMPLIED WARRANTIES OF MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, TITLE, AND NON-INFRINGEMENT.

LifeVault Secure is a software platform and is not a law firm, fiduciary, bank, insurer, financial advisor, or emergency-response provider. The service does not provide legal, tax, estate-planning, or financial advice.

11. Limitation of Liability

TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, LIFEVAULT AND ITS AFFILIATES, OFFICERS, EMPLOYEES, CONTRACTORS, AND SUPPLIERS WILL NOT BE LIABLE FOR ANY INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, CONSEQUENTIAL, EXEMPLARY, OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES, OR FOR ANY LOSS OF PROFITS, REVENUE, DATA, GOODWILL, OR BUSINESS INTERRUPTION.

TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, OUR TOTAL LIABILITY FOR ALL CLAIMS RELATING TO THE SERVICE WILL NOT EXCEED THE GREATER OF THE AMOUNT YOU PAID US FOR THE SERVICE IN THE 12 MONTHS BEFORE THE EVENT GIVING RISE TO THE CLAIM OR FIFTY U.S. DOLLARS (USD $50).

12. Governing Law and Disputes

These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of California, excluding its conflict-of-laws rules. Any dispute that is not subject to informal resolution will be brought exclusively in the state or federal courts located in California, and both parties consent to that venue and personal jurisdiction.

Before filing a claim, you agree to contact us at legal@lifevaultsecure.com and try in good faith to resolve the dispute informally.

13. Changes to These Terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. If we make material changes, we will post the revised Terms, update the date above, and may provide additional notice when appropriate. Your continued use of the service after the updated Terms become effective means you accept the revised Terms.
